We are also particularly proud of the musical opportunities we offer our children. All pupils get the opportunity to make music. For those with a particular interest in music a variety of peripatetic music teachers provide tuition in a variety of instruments including trumpet, flute, clarinet, violin, piano and guitar.
Taken together, a significant proportion of the pupils in the school is involved in music in one way or another. With the exception of the recorder, we have to make a charge for instrumental and vocal tuition, as tutors are provided by North Somerset Council.
All KS2 children have the opportunity to learn an instrument for free as part of an enrichment programme offered by the North Somerset Music Service.
Our commitment to music is further enhanced by the skills of Miss Pearson, the Class 2 teacher, who is a music specialist. Music provides valuable opportunities for children to play an active role in the local community. The Christmas Carol Service, Harvest Festival, Summer Production and performances to the elderly are an important part of our music making at Blagdon.
