What are we learning about this term?

 

Our topic is ‘Emergency Services 999’.

 

English: The Literacy Tree

Year 1

‘Stanley’s Stick’ by John Hegley and Neal Layton

‘Dinosaurs and All That Rubbish’ by Michael Foreman

 

Year 2

‘The Minpins’ by Roald Dahl

‘The Great Fire of London’ by Emma Adams and James Weston Lewis.

‘The Owl and The Pussy Cat’ by Edward Lear and Charlotte Voake.

 

Maths:

Year 1

Shape consolidation, fractions, recapping and consolidation

 

Year 2

Geometry- symmetry, identifying and sorting shapes, fractions, recapping and consolidation.

 

 

Science: Labelling parts of the body; the importance of good hand washing; keeping healthy – exercising, ‘5 a day’, water, brushing teeth and the life cycle of a human.

 

 

History: The Great Fire of London – if you have any books at home, please do send them in!

 

Geography: UK countries and capital cities; town, village and city differences; landmarks in London; street names, postcodes and road signs.

 

 

Religious Education: Christianity - The Easter story.

 

 

Art: Painting, chalk picture making, collage making and card making.

 

 

Music: Making up a whole class Fire composition and singing a wide range of songs.

 

Personal, Social, and Health Education: Jigsaw Scheme – ‘Healthy Me’.

 

 

Physical Education: Multi-skills and Dance.

 

 

Design and Technology: Science Week Challenge - Make a rainforest tree that will withstand challenges, and collage making.

 

Computing: Making a Fire Safety Rules poster and a 999 Emergency Procedure bookmark.

 

Please could your child bring in People who help us/ Emergency Services/ Great Fire of London themed pictures, posters, toys, models and books to share and talk about with the class?
