Year 6 Activities Week 18th July 2022

To celebrate the end of Year 6's time at Blagdon Primary School, we have organised some activities for the children to enjoy.

Monday 18th July - Mendip Outdoor Adventures

We will be having a go at kayaking and the assault course. To keep costs down, we would kindly ask that you drop and pick up your child from Mendip Outdoor Adventures please. A member of staff will be waiting in the carpark to greet you between 9.00am and 9.20am. Collection time is 3.30pm.

Kit list must haves: Please can the children bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. Also, prepare to get wet! Bring a complete change of clothes and a towel. You must have a pair of shoes you are happy to wear in the water, ideally trainers. No flip flops or Crocs please. Avoid jeans! Denim gets very heavy and uncomfortable if it gets wet. Leggings, joggers or shorts would be much better. Plenty of warm clothing to wrap up in afterwards if it is on the chilly side or sun cream and a hat if it is a hot day. We strongly recommend leaving valuables and jewellery at home. We cannot look after any of your belongings whilst on the activity. Mendip Activity Centre and Blagdon Primary School staff are not responsible for loss or damage to any personal possessions, valuables or clothing. Lastly, don’t forget to check your child for tick bites after spending time outdoors.

Tuesday 19th July - Longleat

The minibus will leave Blagdon School at 8.45am and will return to the School at 5.30pm. The children can wear their own clothes and bring a sunhat/raincoat as appropriate plus a packed lunch, drinks bottle (no fizzy drinks cans or glass bottles please), and sun cream. They can bring a sensible amount of spending money with a suggestion of between £5 and £10 for a small gift and perhaps an ice cream. We strongly recommend leaving valuables and jewellery at home. We cannot look after any of your belongings whilst on the activity and the staff are not responsible for loss or damage to any personal possessions, valuables, or clothing.

Wednesday 20th July - Forest Schools

The children will be taking the minibus and travelling to Tania's Woods in Ubley. Please can they bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. They should wear either wellies or walking boots and long sleeve tops and long trousers (not jeans). Depending upon the weather, they may need sun cream, a hat or waterproofs - let's be honest they might even need all of those items!! Wearing layers of clothes is probably the best idea. They will be outside all day. There is a member of staff from Blagdon accompanying them on this trip and Nicky Orr is the Forest School Leader. The visit will take place during normal school hours so the usual drop off and collection can take place.

Thursday 21st July - Leavers Performance / Picnic / Water Fight

On the last day of term, Parents/Carers are invited to join the Year 6’s for their leaver's performance at 9.30 to 10.30am in the School Hall.

Please can the children bring a packed lunch in on this day as they will be joining the rest of the school for a summer picnic on the cricket field.

In the afternoon, there will be the annual water games in the playground - children will need their swimsuit/wetsuit/shorts & t-shirts (that they don't mind getting wet), plus a towel. Shoes must be worn so old trainers are ideal. They can bring water shooters to use but, they must be prepared to lose to our amazing staff team!

Kind regards
